ABOUT

Thirty years of watching markets change, and establishing the implications.

Rebecca has spent over thirty years in technology-led market transformation. She began at Credit Suisse, where she was the first trader registered to trade electronically on all major European cash equity markets, and sold the connectivity and algorithms that moved European equity trading onto screens.

She went on to research the consequences of that shift, as a principal European capital markets consultant at TABB Group, then as Global Head of Market Structure and Strategy at Liquidnet, publishing on trading technology innovation and developments in sustainable finance for industry practitioners across the buy side, sell side, exchanges and vendors.

Redlap Consulting Ltd was founded in 2020. Rebecca has been writing on AI in markets since 2019, and has published the weekly AI in Trading newsletter every week since February 2025. Her recent research is built on primary engagement with the market rather than desk analysis. AI: Beyond the Hyperbole (October 2024) drew on 49 firms to separate deterministic from generative models in execution and compliance, and to set out the data-quality failures, concentration risk and regulatory gaps that have to close before AI is deployed in mission-critical functions. Connectivity in the Age of AI (Plato Partnership, July 2025) surveyed 55 market participants: 91% described connectivity as highly fragmented, 87% found pricing opaque, and 70% reported direct compliance consequences. The three-part Markets Unstructured series (Market Structure Partners, March to April 2026) examined the shift toward bilateral trading, and what a market becoming a network of connectivity asks of policy and regulation.

She has spent much of the last decade in the industry forums where the practical implementation of automated and AI-driven trading gets worked out along with the standards for new tradable assets such as Carbon and Compute.
